The Mom Food Project
Nov. 24th, 2007 10:30 pmBeginning the first Tuesday in January, which happens to be New Year's Day, I'm going to be starting the Mom Food Project.
Over the last few years, I've been asking my mother to help me learn to make all the foods of my childhood. A few months ago, it occurred to me to put these things into a cookbook so that when people ask her how to make her spaghetti sauce (or whatever) she can do more than shrug and say "I don't know -- a little of this and a little of that". Mom has no idea I'm doing this. She's been having a blast teaching me, and now all I have to do is codify the recipes and test them on someone(s). I hope to have the tested recipes ready to present to her for her birthday in early August.
That's where you come in.
Any Tuesday you happen to be in my neighborhood, I hope you'll drop by to test the food. If you're not likely to be in the neighborhood, I hope you'll consider making some of the recipes when I post them, and letting me know how they turn out for you.
Most of my mom's recipes are not vegetarian. None are low-fat. All are yummy as all get-out.
( Here is the current list of foods my mom and I have dredged up from my childhood memories. I'll be making them all, and perhaps a few more. )
